If you are looking for easy and cheap comfort food, mince ‘n’ tatties is your answer. I ate this quite often when I was in university. I used to ate lots of instant noodles, baked beans, and frozen microwave food. I was not very adventurous with food back then, plus I had very limited budget to spend on food. (Not entirely true… I just preferred to spend money in other areas like shopping & drinks,😜 please tell me I am not the only guilty one here!)
Compared to all the other cheap fast food I lived on, mince ‘n’ tatties is obviously a more healthy option. I still have it every now and then, not just because it is inexpensive, also because it is incredibly easy to make! Plus, it is such a comfort food, my stomach just loves it.
If you just looking for a recipe you can print out, scroll all the way down, it is at the bottom of the post. If the writing instructions I provided here is confusing, I do apologize, English is not my first language. (If you are interested in finding out what language I actually speak, here is my about page). A video version of this whole post is also linked below. If you give it a thumbs up you can lock the youtube video. I put a lot of time and effort in the video, all I ask is a thumb up or a share.😉
Ingredients for Mince ‘N’ Tatties
A few things that help
I personally prefer to have it with mashed potato, but it is good with chips too.
If you want lots of gravy, apart from more gravy powder and more water, add a little bit of all purpose flour. It would help the gravy to get thicker.
Here is a video version of what I just wrote above 🙂 Watch it if you have unlimited internet or wifi. Printer-able recipe is at the bottom of the post.
