Welcome to my 1st episode of ‘Air Fryer Recipe’! If you do not know what air fryer is, I would describe it as the healthier version of a deep fryer which also has oven functions. Since English is not my first language and my explanation might have just confused you, here is how Wikipedia explains air fryer.

Today we are making the classic French Palmiers, or as some people call it the elephant ear cookie. If you have not tried it before, you need to try it. Palmiers have crunchy/crispy texture to it, sweet but nothing over the top. If you do not like a sweet flavor, you can easily make it savory by adding pesto or Parmesan.

Palmiers looks very sophisticated. Their flaky, buttery layers melt in your mouth in seconds. You might think only high-end bakery shop can make this sort of magic. Do not be afraid, this recipe is actually very easy. It how to make palmier air fryeronly requires two ingredients and it takes less than 30mins to make in the air fryer.

I cannot find the exact air fryer I am using, but I found one that is similar to the one I have and has the best rating on Amazon. Here is what I found  Philips HD9220/20 Healthier Oil Free Airfryer (For UK), BLACK+DECKER HF110SBD 2-Liter Oil Free Air Fryer (For US)

Ingredients

Puff pastry, sugar

Steps

  1. Get a sheet of puff pastry, sprinkle a tablespoon of sugar evenly over the pastry sheet.
  2. Rolling the left and right sides of the pastry to the middle, sprinkle some extra sugar, rolling the sides again until they meet in the middle. Sprinkle some more sugar. Put it away in the freezer for 5 mins to make the next cutting step easier.
  3. Pre-heat air fryer at 180°C/356°F for 5mins. During that time, slice the long pastry roll into thin slices (~1/2 inch thick).
  4. Place the slices directly in the air fryer, bake for 15 mins at 180°C/356°F, turn all the slices half way.
  5. Sprinkle sugar on top, ready to serve.

Here is a video version of what I just wrote above 🙂 Watch it if you have unlimited internet or wifi.  Printer-able recipe is at the bottom of the post.
