Stir fry is one of the signature Chinese dishes. It is true that you can make a good stir fry using supermarket off-the-shelf flavor pack, but you can make an amazing stir fry if you follow my family recipe. Today I am going to share my family secret recipe with you.

As my dad always say, what makes a stir fry a good one mainly depends on two factors: ingredients and the order of adding the ingredients Chinese Special Stir Fryinto the wok.

You can stir fry pretty much everything, but it is important that all the ingredients go well together. They should create a well-mixed rich flavor, the flavor from a single ingredient should not overpower the rest.

In the recipe below you can find the combination of ingredients that my family loves to use. For your convenience, a video version of this whole post is also linked below. If you give it a thumbs up you can lock the youtube video. I put a lot of time and effort in the video, all I ask is a thumb up or a share 😉. In case you are new here, the free printable recipe is at the end of the post.

Ingredients for Chinese Special Stir Fry

Chicken breast, bell pepper, crab stick, shrimp, celery, and mushroom

A few things that help

As I mentioned before, the order of adding the ingredients is very important. If you are using the exact ingredients combination, make sure you follow the order of adding the ingredients in this recipe for the best result.

Now I am sure you are getting impatient, what are the secrets ingredients you mentioned?!

The first secret ingredient is diced bell pepper. For whatever combination of ingredients to use for stir fry, bell pepper will almost certainly make it taste and look better. The core of Chinese cooking, actually I believe any country cooking thinks this way. Amazing food does not just taste good, they should also look good. Bell pepper not only adds a subtle flavor but also adds some interesting and bright colors.

The second secret ingredient is one of the most famous Chinese spices. Most families have it at home. You can get it easily at any Chinese supermarket. As long that supermarket sells Chinese bottle spices, it is nearly guaranteed that they will have this. It is called LaoGaMa spices, you can also find them on Amazon (US, UK). LaoGaMa is the brand of the spices, they have many different flavors within the brand. Like peanut flavored, chilli oil infused extra. I have tried all of them and I love all of them. It is literally like magic in a bottle. Half a teaspoon to whatever you cook, your food will transform instantly. Do not believe me? Ask any of your Chinese friends, I am sure they have a bottle of this at home 😂.

Here is a video version of what I just wrote above 🙂 Watch it if you have unlimited internet or wifi. Printer-able recipe is at the bottom of the post.

  • 1 package Cooked shimp
  • 3 teaspoon Salt
  • 3 tablespoons Light soy sauce

Instructions
  1. Chop chicken breast, celery stick and crab stick into small pieces. Slice most of the bell peppers. Dice the rest of the bell peppers. Heat some oil up in the pan.
  2. Cook diced chick breast until golden, add in one teaspoon of salt.
  3. Add in celery and sliced pepper, cook until celery get soft. Add in one teaspoon of salt. (If you put the lid on, things get cooked faster).
  4. Add in diced pepper and mushrooms. Stir all the ingredients together and then add 1 teaspoon of salt and 3 tablespoons of sauce soy.
  5. Throw in cooked shrimp and chopped crab sticks. This is the last ingredients to add, lower the fire when you are on this step. Because shrimp and crab sticks are both cooked, you just need to warm them up.
  6. Put in either cooked rice or noodles to mix with the stir fry, add one teapoon of the bottle Chinese speices, ready to serve.
Recipe Notes

If you cannot handle spicy things, you do not need to add the bottled Chinese species. It is my secret ingredient, but stir fry will still taste amazing without it.
