I love bacon, I love cocktail sausages. As you can imagine, bacon wrapped little smokies is one of my favorite snacks. Here in the UK, they call it pigs in blankets. Cute name right? This dish is a classic Christmas starter, that means you cannot find them easily in shops at the rest of the year. If  I love something, I cannot just have it once a year, right? I want to have them whenever I want! After some trials and errors, I finally get it to how I like it.

I cook this in an air fryer, just because it makes everything less oily. Oil tends to drip through the air fryer basket, leaving everything crispy and non-greasy. With that being said, if you do not have an air fryer, you can do this recipe in the oven too. Just use the same ingredients and temperature. The only difference is that oven cooked version can be a bit more greasy compared to the air fryer version.bacon wrapped little smokies

Ingredients for Bacon Wrapped Little Smokies

cocktail sausages, bacon (unsalted), honey, soy sauce, sesame, mixed herb

A few things that help

You can replace the cocktail sausages with normal sausages. The only thing I want to mention is that if you are using the normal sausages, cook the sausages first before you wrap bacon around them.

Bacon is quite thin and gets cooked very fast. If you do not cook sausages to at least 70% before you wrap them with bacon, you might get burnt bacon wrapped undercooked sausages. Trust me, you would not want that! hen you cook sausages, some oil will come out. Take a piece of clean tissue to take away the oil and then wrap bacon around the sausage. It may comes out very greasy if you wrap bacon around cooked sausages straight away.

Different air fryer might have a slightly different performance. However, I found one that is similar to the one I have and has the best rating on Amazon. Here is what I found Philips HD9220/20 Healthier Oil Free Airfryer (For UK), BLACK+DECKER HF110SBD 2-Liter Oil Free Air Fryer (For US)

Here is a video version of what I just wrote above 🙂 Watch it if you have unlimited internet or wifi.  Printer-able recipe is at the bottom of the post.
