15mins Home Food – Episode3 Ham & Cheese Pastry

Welcome to my 3rd episode of 15mins Home Food! Today we are making Ham & Cheese Pastry. If you like ham and cheese sandwich, you will love this for sure. Nothing is better than ham and cheese puff pastry with a bowl of warm soup, to beat the cold winter weather!

Ingredient (Serves 4)Ham & cheese pastry

One pastry sheet (Puff pastry sheets are available in the frozen section of most grocery stores. the one I used is Jus-Rol Puff Pastry Sheets), 6 ham slices, 5 cheese slices, oregano, one egg.

Steps

  1. Defrost pastry sheet 24 hours before you use it.
  2. Flatten the pastry sheet, put one layer of ham, one layer of cheese and another layer of ham on half of the pastry sheet. Put some oregano on top.
  3. Brush the border with egg wash and then place the other half of the sheet on top. Seal all the sides of the pastry. Before next step, preheat your (fan-forced) oven to 210 °C /450 °F.
  4. Make some long slits in the top so that the steam can escape while baking. It will make pastry looking more pretty if you make the slits all even spaced.
  5. Brush the pastry with some egg wash.
  6. Put the pastry into the oven and leave it to cook for 20mins under 210 °C /450 °F.
  7. Ready to serve. I love to have it with some soup. You can either use the 20mins baking time to make some soup or you can do what I did. Make some instant soup with hot water that takes less than a minute. Enjoy 🙂
